Participation in the sale is not guaranteed and participants are chosen by blind lottery. Applications will close on January 30, 21013 at midnight. You’ll need one image of your work to apply.

Only two days to go! Are you ready to visit the 2012 RISD Holiday Alumni Art Sale?

Jiyoung Chung, PT ’02, is an international artist specializing in Joomchi. A traditional Korean art form, Joomchi allows Jiyoung to create layered works of textured paper.

 Jiyoung’s work is unlike anything else at the sale, make sure to visit her at Booth 232!

Eric Swanson, MFD ’89, is the artisan behind Calf Pasture Woodworks based in Wakefield, Rhode Island. Using the real life animals of his working farm as inspiration, Eric creates handmade wooden toys using local woods and antique tools. Free of toxic finishes, Calf Pasture Woodworks offers toys made with heart!

Kayla Soo-Youn Kim, IA ’11, is a recent grad who will be debuting a line of custom printed textiles and shower curtains. Kayla has a strong visual style with an architectural focus on connecting interior and exterior spaces.

Elisa DeFeo, CR ’03, is a ceramicist drawing inspiration from feelings of containment and comfort. Her work mixes flat and glossy surfaces with decorative patterns to highlight the shape of the vessel.

Jason Silverman, CR ’95, creates hand thrown pottery in his Philadelphia studio. Jason’s ceramic work features vibrant glazing and a unique swirl in the bottom of his mugs and dinnerware.

Alecia Underhill, IL ’88, is a skilled painter with a knack for capturing the beauty of horses. Known for her paintings, Alecia is also the creator a “Horses from A to Z”, a poster of and alphabet of horses.

Six Days And Counting!

Today’s featured artists are both illustrators and authors that are neighbors at the RISD Holiday Alumni Art Sale. I’ll be visiting them both to on behalf of two nieces that are fans of Anna Alter and Grace Lin.

Anna Alter, IL ’97. If you love cute animals doing cute things and books written for cute people, you’ll enjoy Anna’s numerous children’s book and her adorable illustrations. Check out her blog here for a preview of her work. Warning: bunnies.

Seven Days To Go!

On our fourth day of features, we’re highlighting the work of Yong Joo Kim and Leslie Evans!

Yong Joo Kim, J+M ’09,  transforms unconventional materials, like Velcro, into thoughtfully crafted, elegant works of wearable art. And if you don’t think ‘Velcro’ and ‘elegance’ belong in the same sentence, get ready to change your tune.

Yong Joo’s work is driven by her desire to help people find their inner beauty and her wearing her work always results in a dialogue.

Leslie Evans, PR ‘75, owner of Sea Dog Press, designs and produces charming, illustrative prints that appeal to art fans of all ages… especially the animal lovers. In addition to prints and drawings, Leslie will also have a great collection of holiday cards and gifts for the letterpress lovers on your list.
